Options for Scheduing Reports in Business Objects XI
Hi,
I've about 140 reports in my BO XI R2 environment. Some are WebI,some are DESKI, some are CR etc. My requirement is to schedule all the 140 reports at one go. How to schedule them in BO? I've never done scheduling before and so, i'm concerned about how and where it should be done and where to keep track of the status? Please help.
Solution: Options for Scheduing Reports in Business Objects XI
140 reports to schedule is going to take a long time to set up. But you can schedule each report using the first 2 options you suggested above. I wouldnt go the 3 option only because it would cost you more money and you dont need it. Option 1 - Using CMC to schedule. In BO XIR2 there is a schedule tab. Here you can set up frequency, nofication (fail or success), where it should be distributed to, what job server or group to use ( this is important because it will compete for system resources and loading on one job server may cause other reports to fail), and format. This should be used when there is a stand schedule and distribution is email or put to a file server.
Option 2 - Using Infoview to schedule. This is to be used by the end user. They can do all the same stuff that you can but the problem with this option is when the user account is deleted or disabled any schedule that was set up by the end user will no longer work.
In all cases, if you have auditing turned on in your environment you will be able to capture what failed, succeed, and other options as well.
