I have a dell latitude d600 everytime I turn it on it tells me to enter the hard drive authentication # the hd is a hitachi travelstar.what do i do

You can just turn it off. Enter BIOS, then choose 'security' in the menu on the left, then choose 'Internal HDD PW', enter your current password, and then press Enter twice, to set empty password/unset your password.
